Artists Who Hate Their Songs
When an artist has a song that becomes mega popular, that song paves way for the musician's shot at success. Of course what happens if that same song that helps them to become famous isn't their favorite one to sing? Here's a list of singers who actually hate singing their songs.
Bobby McFerrin "Don't Worry Be Happy"
McFerrin's hit became his Grammy Award winning song after it was re-released in 1988. Not only has this song been used in numerous television shows including "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," "The Simpsons" and "That '70s Show," but George H.W. Bush used the song as his 1988 presidential campaign song.
Nirvana "Smells Like Teen Spirit"
With the band's certified platinum single, Smells like Teen Spirit became the anthem to teenagers back in the 90s. With numerous cover versions of the song from artists like Tori Amos to even having a cappella version appearing in the film The Muppets, Kurt Cobain regards the song as a sellout.
Vanilla Ice "Ice Ice Baby"
Ice's 1990 song became platinum as the artist's mega hit song paved way for his music career. However, after his popularity decline and his numerous contract disputes of the song's royalties, Ice grew tired of the song. In 1999, Vanilla Ice came to MTV to smash the network's master copy of the video only to leave with tearing apart the set.
Tina Turner "What's Love Got to Do with It"
Even from the beginning when the song was simply a demo, Turner hated the song. Her manager made Turner do the song and it became a huge hit topping the US Billboard chart three weeks in a row. "What's Love Got to do with It" helped define her solo career after her divorce from Ike Turner.
