Mary Lambert Wears Her Heart On Her Sleeve
Mary Lambert is a singer, songwriter, and spoken word artist that is best known for her hook in the iconic song “Same Love” with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. Mary Lambert has previously released an EP called The Age of My Body which features the spectacular spoken word pieces Body Love Pt.1 and Pt.2.
Heart on My Sleeve was released on October 14, 2014 and features songs like “Secrets” and “So Far Away”. The album has eleven songs in total, but there is also a deluxe version that has three bonus songs. Heart on My Sleeve features two female artist, K.Flay and Angel Haze. The two feature in a song titled “Ribcage”.
The album is amazing. Starting from the catchy and brutally self-aware song “Secrets”. Mary Lambert's voice is beautiful, but combine that with her lyrics, it has the uncanny ability to grab your heart and make you both laugh and cry. Heart on My Sleeve also has a cover for “Jessie’s Girl” which was originally performed by Rick Springfield. The cover is slower than the original song, but it is still just as good. While all of the songs on the album are amazing, there are still a few that stood out. One of those songs is “Sum of Our Parts” which is an uplifting song about how we are more than our scars. With a catchy beat in the back, it is a good edition to anyone's morning playlist. Also within the album is a spoken word piece called “Dear One” that talks about the one that you love.
I would recommend this album to anyone who would listen. Mary Lambert is an amazing artist and her debut album shows both her talent and how much of any amazing person she is.
